What a change in scenery. The drive from Kahului airport to my condo in Kaanapali takes me along the very scenic ocean road. But here on Maui, the dominant colors are gold and brown and the blue of the sea, not much green in sight except for the palm trees and man made gardens. The Aston Mahana does not have much of a beach to use either, but just next to the hotel starts a nice stretch of beach.
In the afternoon, I drive up to Napili Bay and sit out by the beach until sunset. Then I stock up on breakfast supplies in the local supermarket as I intend to have my eggs home made and eaten on the ocean front balcony of my studio for the coming week. Everything is a bit overpriced, except the pineapple for 99c (maybe they subsidize the pineapples?).
